Student Volunteering Week

Over February, our staff team has been working to deliver various one-off volunteering opportunities and events for students as part of the national Student Volunteering Week. Nationally, we have supported over 80 people with over 70 volunteers. Here is an overview of all the incredible events:

Southampton Hub has supported the Big Breakfast to help provide hot bacon baps, Greggs savouries, sandwiches, fruit and sweet treats along with tea and coffee. The Big Breakfast is a place where homeless people and others can come for breakfast every Thursday. Over the event, they supported around 70 people who turned up to The Big Breakfast.

Bristol Hub has collaborated with the Fashion Forward Society once again to run a fundraiser event. The Trashion Show allowed 22 students to create garments out of recycled materials. Over the course of this event, they have sold 185 tickets raising £1000 for Bristol Hub.

In Kingston, our student leaders have led an incredible range of activities this week from habitat restoration event to a tea party with older adults. They had inter-generational conversation over tea and coffee while playing various games. Our 8 volunteers were able to support around 30 older adults.

In the Spotlight

This month, I would like to put our new starter Sarah Baaghil in the spotlight. Sarah has studied Business and Master’s in Psychology at Anglia Ruskin University. She is our new Leeds Programme Manager who will deliver a Charity Challenge following our One Community Forum last year. She passionate about coaching on self awareness because by accessing who we are, we get to design ourselves and our life.
