Mainstreaming student social action

We support university students across the UK to engage with social and environmental issues, make an impact in their community and become active citizens for life.

Students

  • Learn about social issues, and themselves
  • Connect with each other and their communities
  • Do something to tackle challenges

Universities

  • Collaborate to enable wider strategic goals
  • Generate added value to student engagement
  • Deliver upon civic and social responsibility

Communities

  • Gain new perspectives, including added expertise and energy
  • Benefit from added capacity for new and existing work
  • Achieve community cohesion, with an improved connection to the university

An individual smiles at the camera. They are outdoors wearing a patterned shirt.
I’ve seen it has increased my self esteem, enjoyment in simple things and feelings to connect with others. The project has enlightened me in believing positive work is being done to help people in need. I personally enjoyed the communication… and working with my team in a professional but relaxed environment.

Ted Turner

This experience helped me shape and sharpen my thinking as I was not only being presented by day-to-day challenges in the classroom but also tackling real-life issues at the same time, which is an essential skill to have in this day and age.

Revina Celine Kaur Sidhu

The project has helped to boost my confidence as it has involved getting to know new people. I would now say that I have much more confidence when doing group tasks at university as I am much more used to talking in front of an audience.
