Student Hubs is mainstreaming student social action in the UK, creating active citizens for life. To achieve our mission we work in partnership with institutions and local communities delivering a wide range of activities.

Our projects allow partners to work with us in a tailored, bespoke way to benefit both community members and students. Universities are invited to work with us in a way that works for them, whether that’s a three month consultancy project on student engagement or a three year Hub mainstreaming social action at their institution.
Within our programme delivery, we have four key areas. Structured volunteering, skilled placements, Community Engaged Learning and training, events and incubation.
Structured volunteering
Students volunteer in the local community to tackle local social and environmental issues. From tackling educational inequality with academic support through Schools Plus to planting trees at a one-off Give it a Go opportunity to building intergenerational friendships with LinkAges.
Skilled placements
Skilled placements train and support students to engage with local organisations, small businesses and university departments as consultants. Students gain essential skills and partners are supported to tackle their challenges. Think supporting a local youth organisation with volunteer recruitment through the Social Innovation Programme and embedding a recycling scheme in your halls of residence through Engage for Change.
Community Engaged Learning
Community Engaged Learning brings student social action into the curriculum, overcoming the barriers students often face to becoming active citizens. Our team work with academics and local community organisations to bring real world briefs to the classroom.
Training, Events and Incubation
We also facilitate training, deliver bespoke events and offer incubation support to student and community partners.
