8 Unique Ways that We Celebrated #iwillWeek 2018

Posted on: 21 November 2018

Wow! What a week last week was.

I Will Week (#iwillWeek) took place 12-16th November 2018 as a celebration of youth social action across the country, run by Step Up to Serve.

At Student Hubs we value being a part of a national movement of young people making a difference in their communities. I Will Week was a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate on the impact our volunteers in their local Hubs make in their university cities, as well as reflect on issues and programmes close to us.

Our celebrations were all over facebook, instagram, twitter… you name it! But here are a few of our highlights:

A fantastic blog on sport and social action, exploring how our innovative Sports England and I Will funded projects are making a difference to local communities – read it here!

Bristol Hub’s first podcast episode, Hubcast, filled with great discussion of personal social action journeys – you can listen here!

This epic thread from Oxford Hub introducing us to many of their volunteers, and sharing their stories – check it out here!

Kingston Hub’s incredible journey through the week which they used instagram stories to share and inspire other young people perfectly – you can watch the series here!

Southampton Hub sharing the social issues and inequalities they’ve identified in the city, and their pledges to tackle them through social action – learn all about it here!

An honest reflection on how we as a sector approach diversity and inclusion, and some fantastic action steps for organisations to take – learn more here.

Cambridge Hub’s cosy ‘Open House’ for I Will Week, welcoming any Cambridge student in for a chat about social action in the Cambridge community – watch it here!

Winchester Hub ran loads of community events around the city for I Will Week, attracting current volunteers and those new to social action – catch up on all the action on their instagram page!

A big thank-you to all our amazing student volunteers across our Hubs, and to all other youth social action organisations around the country for sharing your inspiration and achievements with us throughout #iwillWeek too.
