President
As president, I am responsible for overseeing the committee and organising society-wide events. I really enjoy meeting getting to meet lots of new people in the role and see the positive effects their volunteering has on the Southampton community!
Vice President
I’m Zara and I am the Vice President of Southampton Hub this year. I’m passionate about social action, but more importantly, making it accessible to everyone. I’m really looking forward to organising lots of one-off volunteering opportunities and society collaborations this year to help even more people get involved with community action.
I love Southampton Hub and everything it stands for. I’ve enjoyed being involved in numerous projects, including Branch Up and Schools Plus. Most of all, I love how our society is a welcoming and enthusiastic group of people who are all passionate about helping the local community!
Treasurer and Fundraising Officer
I’m the treasurer and fundraising officer, I keep track of what we spend locally and organise fundraising events with the help of the committee. The hub motivates me to work for a better future and I’m so fortunate to be part of this wonderful committee!
Comms Coordinator
As Communications Officer I oversee our social media pages, as well as the blog and the weekly newsletter. I hope to keep everyone in the loop about the many amazing things we do!
This is my fourth year with Southampton Hub and it has been a highlight of my time at university. It’s wonderful to work with such lovely, enthusiastic people on a cause so close to my heart.
Issues and Events Coordinator
I am Southampton Hub’s first Issues and Events Coordinator. I organise campaigns, events and information stalls about the social issues that fall beyond the scope of Southampton Hub’s current projects. My goal is to make it easier for students to get involved in social action.

Libraries Plus Coordinator
As Libraries Plus Coordinator, I oversee how the library homework help sessions are run, ensuring that communication between pupils, parents, volunteers, and the libraries run smoothly.
As a first year student, I volunteered with Libraries Plus during the 2020-21 academic year and not only gained invaluable volunteering experience, but a friendly community that shared the same passions for education and community learning as I did. Being a Southampton native, I feel so honoured to give back to my local community and the libraries I grew up in.
Invent Plus Co-Coordinator
Invent Plus Co-Coordinator
My role as Invent Plus co-ordinator requires working with schools and libraries in the local community to deliver fun and informative engineering workshops for children. These workshops each individually cover a different type of engineering and aim to offer kids a chance to build and take home an engineering project and to hopefully encourage people from all backgrounds to pursue engineering as a career. Volunteering with the hub has been such a joy and it is an honour to join likeminded students in trying to make a difference for our local community. It is such a welcoming place and an incredibly rewarding experience.
Branch Up Coordinator
At Branch Up we organise fun activity days for children aged 7-11 in Southampton. My role is to oversee the planning and running of the activity days with the help of my great sub-committee. I really enjoy seeing how much the children benefit from the activities and the positive impacts made by Southampton Hub within the com
Empower Coordinator
I’m Jo, a 3rd year maths student and the Empower coordinator for this academic year. I oversee the mentoring project which pairs Southampton students with secondary school pupils for 6 weeks of rewarding and productive time together! Being involved with the Hub is a fantastic way to help out the local community, which is one of the reasons I love it. I get to meet all kinds of people who are also passionate about social action, all while making a difference to young people in the area.
Inspire, Debate, Change Coordinator
During Inspire Debate Change, we run weekly sessions on politics and citizenship in schools, which includes exciting class debates and discussions. This is often something not included in the everyday school curriculum. As a politics student I really enjoy being able to share what I’m passionate about whilst having a positive impact on the wonderful young people in the local Southampton community.
