We are passionate about working as part of coalitions in the not-for-profit sector and beyond. We want to open up more opportunities for students to create social change effectively and sustainably.
Generation Change is a youth social action coalition: a partnership of 18 specialist youth social action charities that are transforming the UK by empowering over half a million young people to take action in thousands of local communities and schools.
As part of Generation Change, we are helping to develop a collective infrastructure, enabling us to raise our game and meet the aim of the government’s Step Up To Serve campaign. At the same time, Generation Change is the independent sector voice of the youth social action sector, creating a knowledge hub for organisations that want to embrace social action.
Step Up To Serve
We support the #iwill campaign for youth social action, coordinated by Step Up To Serve. Working with business, education and voluntary sector partners, the campaign aims to ensure that all young people can access social action opportunities, whatever their background. The #iwill goal is to raise the number of 10-20 year-olds taking part in social action by 2020 by 50%, which will mean an additional 1.5 million young people will be active in their communities. Team London – European Volunteering Capital 2016
We are proud to have celebrated London’s European Volunteering Capital status with Team London, the Mayor’s volunteering programme for the city. Team London supports Student Volunteering Week and youth social action more widely, aiming to make it as easy as possible for Londoners to give their time and skills to good causes.
